What began as a small neighborhood initiative along the Nassaukade in the Feijenoord district has grown into one of Rotterdam’s most enjoyable markets: De Kaai Markt. This charming flea market was born from residents’ desire to give items a second life and to meet each other in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

The market is located in a neighborhood full of character and history. For many years, Feijenoord was home to workers from the port and industrial sector, including the well-known company Unilever, which has had a strong presence here since the early 20th century. You can still feel this mix of industry, migration, and entrepreneurship in the area – and also at the market.
Every edition of De Kaai Markt is a journey of discovery: stalls full of second-hand clothing, vintage finds, books, toys, and handmade products. It’s not just a place to buy or sell, but also a space to share stories, exchange ideas, and meet new people.
Extra special: the Feijenoord district has plans for a museum celebrating its rich history, including the role of companies like Unilever. Who knows De Kaai Markt might even get a spot there in the future!
